The Asian Games are underway in Japan and, following the UAE dressage team into the arena, attention will soon turn to show jumping as four of the country’s leading riders prepare to represent the nation at Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
From everyone at Equitrans Logistics, we would like to wish the UAE Show Jumping Team, their horses and the entire support team the very best of luck as they prepare to take on some of Asia’s leading combinations at the JRA Equestrian Park in Tokyo.
Show jumping competition takes place on 1, 3 and 4 October, with the UAE contesting both team and individual honours.
Meet Team UAE
The UAE will be represented by four experienced combinations:
Omar Abdul Aziz Al Marzooqi and Enjoy De La Mure
Omar arrives in Japan following an outstanding summer in Europe, culminating in an impressive performance at the FEI World Championships in Aachen last month. The 23-year-old and Enjoy De La Mure qualified for the Individual Final against the world’s best and now turn their attention to defending the UAE’s strong record at Asian Games level.
Omar is the reigning Asian Games individual silver medallist, having finished second at Hangzhou 2023, where he also helped the UAE secure team bronze.
Sheikha Latifah bint Ahmed Al Maktoum and Cornet XL
One of the UAE’s most experienced championship riders, Sheikha Latifah returns to the Asian Games with Cornet XL following a summer campaign that also included the FEI World Championships in Aachen.
She is no stranger to success at the Games, having claimed both individual and team silver at Guangzhou 2010, and brings considerable Olympic, World Championship and Asian Games experience to the UAE squad.
Abdullah Humaid Al Muhairi and Hudson De Vains
Abdullah and Hudson De Vains head to Japan following another season competing at international level across Europe and the Middle East. The combination brings valuable championship experience to a UAE team looking to build on its recent continental success.
Humaid Abdulla Khalifa Al Muhairi and Mentos
Completing the four combinations is Humaid Abdulla Khalifa Al Muhairi with Mentos. Humaid was also part of the UAE squad at last month’s World Championships in Aachen and has been a regular member of the national team throughout its recent international campaigns.
BBS McGregor has also been named as the reserve horse.
A proud Asian Games record
The UAE heads into the competition with an impressive history in Asian Games show jumping.
The national team has won medals at three previous editions, claiming bronze at Doha 2006, silver at Guangzhou 2010 and bronze at Hangzhou 2023.
The last Games were particularly successful. Alongside the team bronze medal, Omar Al Marzooqi secured individual silver, while Abdullah Mohammed Al Marri added individual bronze.
Aichi-Nagoya therefore represents another important opportunity for UAE show jumping to build on a period of sustained international progress.
The championship also comes just weeks after the FEI World Championships in Aachen, where several members of the Asian Games squad competed against the world’s leading riders. For horses, riders, grooms and the wider support teams, it has been an intensive international season and Japan represents another major destination on that journey.
